![]() ![]() Also the Y and Z are interchanged, which is invariably a greater problem. In the end I think I could live without the "ñ" letter, but the greater problem I see with the German keyboard layout is that the Enter key and the left Shift key are farther away from my pinky fingers than normal. I can toggle the accented Spanish characters easily enough (á,é,í,ó,ú), but. Then I thought, why not get a German keyboard since everything I need is on it (except ), and I don't have many of the &*()#$% characters memorized anyway. At first I thought about just buying an American keyboard while back at home and using the Spanish keyboard setting for the umlauted letters, but I would need to change to the German keyboard for the "ß", and truly the ö,ä, and ü letters are easier on a German keyboard than on a Spanish one. All worked fine, both the login screen and my account: ITA over US (ITA/US). I selected Italian language and US keyboard. Now, few days ago I decided to do a Reset of the OS, a clean Reset, so it is as if Windows were installed from scratch. All worked as expected: Windows in Italian and the keyboard layout US (I have an US keyboard), both the login screen and my account. This post summarizes my thoughts around the topic. In 2018, I finally switched to a US layout. I upgraded from Win7U to Win10 pro, on July. For the first three decades of my life, Ive exclusively used a German keyboard layout for programming. Many things in Win10 do not work any more… ![]() These steps do not seem to work any more. Only eight steps are required, and you’ve already changed the keyboard layout language. Then, select the Welcome screen and system accounts and New user accounts check boxes and click OK.
